Figure 8 pools
Located in the Royal National Park, Figure Eight Pools are a collection of rock pools. This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.
These pools are part of an interesting geological phenomenon. Two sinkholes have merged together to form a large figure eight shaped pool. The main pool is nearly four metres across. The rocks around the pool are a bit wet, so it’s important to walk with your feet out wide.
The pool is only accessible at low tide. If you’re not sure, check the tides and the sea conditions. If there are dangerous surf conditions, you should not go.
The sea is very unpredictable here. The waves can be very large, and there have been many deaths in the tide pools here.
